Key Responsibilities
Research & Innovation
- Lead and coordinate high-impact research programmes in GIS and remote sensing
- Develop new geospatial models and methodologies
- Conduct environmental assessments, hazard mapping, and risk analysis
Advanced Technologies
- Apply GeoAI and machine learning in environmental and disaster research
- Use big data and advanced analytics for geospatial solutions
Publications & Academic Contribution
- Publish in high-impact, internationally recognised journals
- Maintain a strong research output record
Academic Engagement
- Present research at international conferences and forums
- Contribute to global scientific discussions
Minimum Requirements
PhD (NQF Level 10) in:
- Environmental Management
- Geography
- GIS / Geoinformatics
- Or a closely related field
Proven:
- Conference presentations (national level or higher)
- Research publications (local & international journals)
- Recognition in a specialised research area
Experience:
- Supervising completed Master’s students
- Active participation in academic/research organisations
NRF rating (or strong potential to obtain one)
National Research Foundation
Recommended (Advantageous)
- 2+ years postdoctoral experience
- At least 10 high-impact publications
- Experience leading research projects and teams
- Strong postgraduate supervision record
