JOB DESCRIPTION
The Sales Manager is responsible for recruiting, developing, and managing sales representatives and brokers, driving sales performance, and expanding market share while ensuring full compliance with financial regulations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Sales Strategy & Planning
- Develop and implement an integrated sales and marketing plan
- Align branch strategy with regional objectives
- Monitor progress and report on strategic goals
- Communicate plans clearly to the sales team
Recruitment & Selection
- Recruit and select sales representatives
- Advertise roles and conduct presentations
- Ensure hiring complies with FSCA requirements
Training & Development
- Facilitate training (pre-course and post-course)
- Conduct on-the-job assessments
- Provide continuous learning and development support
Coaching & Performance Management
- Provide technical support and motivation to team members
- Coach representatives to improve sales performance
- Recognise and manage performance through systems
Broker Management
- Support and manage relationships with brokers
- Provide product updates and training
- Assist with administrative and operational queries
- Ensure brokers use up-to-date systems and processes
Business Development
- Identify and develop new markets
- Maintain relationships with key decision-makers
- Increase and retain market share
- Conduct product presentations
Target & Performance Management
- Set and monitor production targets
- Ensure business retention and growth
- Track sales performance and results
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure compliance with FAIS regulations
- Supervise representatives and submit reports
- Handle complaints and compliance processes
- Ensure proper documentation (Record of Advice, Financial Needs Analysis, etc.)
- Adhere to Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) principles
Leadership & Culture
- Lead and motivate the team
- Promote company values and ethical conduct
- Ensure compliance with audit and risk requirements
REQUIREMENTS
Education
- Matric (Grade 12)
- Relevant qualification recognised by the FSCA
Certifications
- Regulatory Exam Level 5 (Representatives) – Required
- Regulatory Exam Level 1 (Key Individual) – Advantage
- Class of Business: Long-Term Insurance & Investments
- CPD (Continuous Professional Development)
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 1 year management experience
- At least 2 years in the insurance industry
- Minimum 1 year advice/intermediary experience
- 2 years project management experience
