Job Overview
A leading mining operation is seeking a highly experienced Mining General Manager to oversee and lead all operational, strategic, and safety aspects of an opencast mining site. This executive role requires strong leadership, extensive industry experience, and a proven track record in managing large-scale mining operations.
Key Responsibilities

Provide overall leadership and strategic direction for mining operations

Oversee production, safety, financial performance, and compliance

Ensure efficient and cost-effective opencast mining operations
-
Drive continuous improvement in productivity and operational excellence
-
Ensure adherence to legal, environmental, and safety regulations
-
Lead and develop multidisciplinary teams across the operation
-
Manage budgets, forecasts, and operational performance metrics
-
Liaise with stakeholders, including executives, regulators, and contractors
Minimum Requirements
-
Matric (Grade 12)

Bachelor’s Degree in Mining, Engineering, or Geology

Opencast Blasting Certificate
-
Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency
Experience Required
-
Minimum 18 years’ experience in the mining industry

Extensive opencast mining experience (essential)

Proven experience in senior or executive-level mining roles
