Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Chief Geologist to lead geological activities within a mining operation. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing exploration, resource modelling, and geological interpretation to support strategic decision-making and ensure accurate resource estimation.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage geological exploration and evaluation programs

Conduct and oversee 3D geological modelling and structural interpretation
-
Ensure accurate resource modelling, estimation, and reporting
-
Interpret geological data to support mine planning and development
-
Utilize geological software such as MINEX and AutoCAD
-
Ensure compliance with industry standards and reporting codes
-
Provide technical guidance to geology teams and stakeholders
-
Collaborate with mining and engineering teams to optimize resource extraction
Minimum Requirements
-
BSc Honours (Geology) or BTech (Geology)
-
Matric (Grade 12)
-
Professional registration with SACNASP (South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions) – compulsory

Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Senior Exploration or Mining Geologist
Required Skills & Expertise

Strong experience in geological 3D modelling

Advanced structural geological interpretation skills

Proficiency in MINEX geological modelling software

Working knowledge of AutoCAD

Proven experience in resource estimation and reporting
