Role Purpose
The Control Room Operator is responsible for monitoring and managing system operations via control panels, sensors, and software to ensure the continuous and safe functioning of operations. The role includes responding to alerts, maintaining detailed reports, and supporting system maintenance. This is a shift-based role requiring 12-hour shifts on a 6 days on / 3 days off rotation.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor system performance and equipment via control panels and sensors
Operate and adjust systems to ensure optimal performance
Respond to alarms and emergencies following established protocols
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards
Coordinate with technical and maintenance teams to troubleshoot issues
Maintain logs and records of system activity, incidents, and interventions
Assist with routine inspections and maintenance support
Communicate updates and escalate issues to supervisors or relevant departments
Provide mentorship or guidance to new or junior operators
Stay updated on industry best practices, new technologies, and operational procedures
Minimum Requirements
PSIRA registration (Security Industry Regulatory Authority)
Matric certificate (Grade 12)
Computer literacy
Fluent in English and Afrikaans
Professional telephone etiquette
Reliable transport
Willingness to work 12-hour shifts (Work 6 days, Off 3 days)
Remuneration
Monthly salary: R6,500
Performance-based increase possible after 3-month probation period
