Bursary Overview
The Department of Agriculture (DoA) invites applications for its 2026 bursary programme aimed at supporting deserving and previously disadvantaged students from rural and poverty-stricken communities. The bursary is open to South African citizens who are pursuing or intending to pursue qualifications in the agricultural sector. Persons with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply.
Fields of Study Covered
The bursary will only consider applicants in the following disciplines:
Minimum NSC Requirements: Mathematics & Physical Science: Level 6 (70–79%)

Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSc.)
Minimum NSC Requirements: Mathematics & Physical Science: Level 5 (60–69%)

BSc Agric. Entomology

Eligibility Criteria

Must be a South African citizen

Must meet the academic requirements for the chosen field of study

Must be from a previously disadvantaged, rural, or low-income background

Note:

If you do not yet have your university acceptance letter or final results, you may still apply. These documents must be submitted within 3 days after the release of the Grade 12 results in January 2026.

Affidavits will not be accepted.
