The IT Infrastructure Administrator plays a key role in ensuring secure, reliable, and compliant IT systems that enable high-quality animal health research.

    Job Purpose

    The IT Infrastructure Administrator is responsible for maintaining and optimising the organisation’s IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, cloud services, cybersecurity, backup systems, and disaster recovery processes. The role also ensures compliance with regulated IT standards, supports infrastructure projects, and provides advanced technical support for complex infrastructure issues.

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Infrastructure Administration

    • Monitor and maintain on-premises servers.
    • Administer cloud-based infrastructure.
    • Optimise storage systems.
    • Ensure high system availability and performance.
    • Monitor infrastructure health and performance.

    2. Network Administration

    • Manage firewalls.
    • Configure and maintain network switches.
    • Administer routers.
    • Maintain Virtual Private Networks (VPNs).
    • Ensure secure network connectivity.
    • Monitor network performance.

    3. Cloud Administration

    • Manage cloud resources in:
      • Microsoft Azure
      • Amazon Web Services (AWS)
      • Other approved cloud platforms
    • Monitor cloud performance.
    • Maintain cloud security.
    • Optimise cloud resources.

    4. Patch Management

    • Apply operating system updates.
    • Install software patches.
    • Perform proactive maintenance.
    • Troubleshoot infrastructure issues.
    • Minimise downtime through preventative maintenance.

    5. Backup and Disaster Recovery

    • Manage backup systems.
    • Perform regular backup testing.
    • Conduct restore testing.
    • Maintain disaster recovery procedures.
    • Support business continuity planning.
    • Protect critical organisational data.

    6. Cybersecurity

    • Implement cybersecurity controls.
    • Assist with vulnerability assessments.
    • Respond to security incidents.
    • Strengthen infrastructure security.
    • Ensure compliance with security standards.

    7. Compliance and Documentation

    Maintain documentation supporting compliance with:

    • Good Practice (GxP)
    • Good Laboratory Practice (GLP)

    Additional responsibilities include:

    • Maintaining configuration records.
    • Updating change logs.
    • Producing audit-ready documentation.
    • Supporting internal and external audits.

    8. User and Access Management

    • Manage user accounts.
    • Provision new user access.
    • Perform onboarding and offboarding activities.
    • Maintain secure access controls.
    • Act as the escalation point for complex infrastructure issues beyond Tier 1 Support.

    9. Infrastructure Projects

    • Participate in infrastructure upgrades.
    • Support cloud migrations.
    • Assist with infrastructure improvements.
    • Follow change control procedures.
    • Support system validation activities.

    10. Continuous Improvement

    • Identify opportunities to improve infrastructure reliability.
    • Enhance security controls.
    • Improve operational efficiency.
    • Participate in technical training.
    • Support continuous improvement initiatives.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Applicants must have a relevant qualification such as:

    • Diploma in Information Technology
    • Advanced Certificate in Information Technology
    • Bachelor’s Degree in:

      • Related IT field

    Experience Requirements

    Applicants should have:

    • 4–5 years’ hands-on experience in:
