Job Purpose
The Grain Grader is responsible for sampling and grading grain products according to regulatory standards, ensuring quality control, accurate stock tracking, and compliance with food safety and operational procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Grain Grading & Quality Control
- Grade grain according to statutory regulations and standards
- Conduct daily grading of incoming and outgoing raw materials
- Perform weekly grain stock confirmations
- Report any quality issues or discrepancies
Equipment & Compliance
- Ensure grading equipment is functional and properly calibrated
- Maintain food safety systems (HACCP)
- Ensure compliance with safety and legislative requirements
Administration & Reporting
- Complete daily, weekly, and monthly reports
- Maintain stock control records
- Perform administration on internal grain systems
- Manage leave and overtime records (PRP system)
Operational & Client Support
- Support general departmental operations
- Ensure good client service and prevent complaints
- Assist with health, safety, and security processes
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / NQF Level 4
- Grain grading certificate (advantageous)
- 1–3 years experience in grain grading
- Computer literacy (MS Office)
- Clear criminal record
- Traceable references
