     JOB DESCRIPTION

    This role focuses on collecting blood and non-blood specimens for medical testing, while ensuring:

    • Accuracy in sample collection
    • Patient safety and comfort
    • High-quality diagnostic support

     You play a direct role in patient care and diagnosis, making this both a technical and people-focused healthcare role.

     RESPONSIBILITIES

     Specimen Collection

    • Perform blood draws (phlebotomy) safely and accurately
    • Collect non-blood samples where required
    • Follow strict medical and safety procedures

     Patient Interaction & Care

    • Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients
    • Create a comfortable and professional experience
    • Build trust during procedures

     Administration & Data Handling

    • Accurately capture patient information
    • Use digital systems for records and reporting
    • Handle payments where required

     Quality & Safety

    • Follow healthcare regulations and hygiene standards
    • Ensure correct labelling and handling of specimens
    • Maintain high standards of accuracy to support diagnoses

     REQUIREMENTS

    Qualifications

    • Qualification in:
      • Phlebotomy OR
      • Nursing

     Registration

    • Must be registered with:
      • Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA), OR
      • South African Nursing Council (SANC)

     Experience

    • Minimum 1 year experience as a phlebotomist or similar role

     Other Requirements

    • Valid Code B driver’s licence
    • Ability to drive a manual vehicle
    • Willingness to work weekends

    • Strong communication (especially in English)
