Job Description
ER24 is seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Advanced Life Support (ALS) Paramedic to join its Eastern Free State team in Bethlehem. The successful candidate will respond to emergency medical calls and provide advanced pre-hospital emergency care in accordance with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) scope of practice.
This role requires a healthcare professional who can deliver high-quality emergency medical services, maintain operational readiness, provide exceptional patient care, and contribute to the positive reputation of ER24 through professional and compassionate service.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to emergency medical calls and provide advanced life support care.
- Ensure operational readiness of emergency vehicles, equipment, and medical supplies.
- Deliver patient care in accordance with the HPCSA scope of practice and clinical guidelines.
- Assess, stabilise, treat, and transport patients safely during emergency situations.
- Maintain accurate and complete Patient Report Forms (PRFs) and other clinical documentation.
- Promote and maintain a positive public image for ER24 through professional interactions with patients and the community.
- Perform basic shift administration and operational reporting.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, emergency medical protocols, and quality standards.
- Apply best practice principles when delivering emergency medical services.
- Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals and emergency response teams.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
Essential Qualifications
- Critical Care Assistant (CCA), or
- National Diploma in Emergency Medical Care, or
- Diploma in Emergency Medical Care.
Preferred Qualifications
- Successful completion of training related to the Clinical Practice Guidelines published by the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
- Applicants who have not yet completed this training may be required to do so during their probation period if appointed.
Experience
- Newly qualified Advanced Life Support (ALS) practitioner with operational Emergency Medical Services (EMS) experience.
- Preferred: At least 1 year of ALS operational experience.
Knowledge and Skills
Applicants should have knowledge of:
- Emergency Medical Services (EMS) operations.
- HPCSA guidelines and scope of practice.
- Emergency patient assessment and advanced life support techniques.
- Patient Report Forms (PRFs) and clinical documentation.
- Local facilities, travel routes, and geographical areas.
- Microsoft Office applications.
- Best practice principles in emergency medical care.
- English language proficiency (written and verbal).
