Job Overview
The Central University of Technology, Free State is seeking an experienced academic leader to serve as Dean of the Faculty of Humanities. The successful candidate will provide academic vision, lead strategic faculty development and ensure alignment with the university’s strategic priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Achieve the faculty’s strategic goals and operational targets.
- Manage human, financial, physical and other resources.
- Lead and manage organisational change.
- Oversee quality assurance and academic standards.
- Drive effective planning, organisation and decision-making.
- Lead, develop and motivate individuals and teams.
- Participate in the development and management of the university’s strategic plan.
- Deliver against organisational and individual objectives.
- Contribute to the generation of third-stream income.
Minimum Requirements
- PhD or equivalent qualification in a field related to the faculty’s disciplinary areas.
- At least the rank of Associate Professor.
- A substantial record of academic achievement and excellence.
- Strong academic leadership experience in teaching, research and engagement.
- At least 5 years’ leadership and management experience at middle and/or senior management level in higher education.
- Proven experience in achieving organisational and individual objectives.
- Proven experience in generating third-stream income.
- Experience in motivating and inspiring teams to achieve objectives.
Advantageous Requirements
- Attainment of the rank of Professor.
- At least 8 years’ leadership and management experience at middle and/or senior management level in higher education.
- Professional registration with the relevant professional body, where applicable.
Remuneration
Minimum salary scale (Total Cost to Company): R1 873 216 per annum.
