JOB DESCRIPTION
This role is responsible for leading the entire commercial strategy of the financial services division (Mr Price Money), specifically across:
- Credit
- Insurance
- Value-Added Services (VAS)
You will oversee:
- Revenue growth
- Profitability
- New product development
- Strategic execution
This is a high-level leadership role combining finance, strategy, and business development.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy & Commercial Leadership
- Develop and execute commercial strategies to drive revenue and profitability
- Align commercial plans with the company’s 5-year strategy
- Monitor KPIs and operating metrics
- Report performance to executives and senior management
- Identify risks and opportunities through market insights
Budget & Financial Management
- Develop and manage budgets
- Track financial performance across the division
- Ensure alignment between commercial activities and overall business strategy
- Oversee profitability of the financial services portfolio
Business Development
- Identify and develop new financial products
- Manage profitability of:
- Credit products
- Insurance offerings
- Value-added services
- Collaborate with:
- Internal teams
- External partners
- Lead execution of growth opportunities
Market Research & Insights
- Analyse market trends and competitor activity
- Work with Business Intelligence (BI) teams
- Drive customer profitability strategies using data
Risk & Compliance Management
- Manage commercial agreements (pricing, terms, conditions)
- Ensure compliance with:
- Financial regulations
- Data privacy laws
- Balance profitability with risk in financial services
- Work closely with risk teams
Team Leadership
- Lead and manage the commercial team
- Drive team performance against KPIs
- Support:
- Training and development
- Succession planning
- Build and maintain a strong team culture
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
- CA(SA) (Chartered Accountant – South Africa)
Experience
- Minimum 10 years senior management experience in:
- Banking and/or Financial Services
- At least 7+ years in Credit and Insurance
Additional (Advantageous)
- Insurance certifications:
- RE1
- RE5
