     JOB DESCRIPTION

    The Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in running the daily operations of the store. The main goal is to ensure:

    • Store targets are achieved
    • Customer service standards are met and exceeded
    • Operations run efficiently and profitably

     This is a hands-on retail leadership role combining operations, sales, and team management.

     RESPONSIBILITIES

     Stock Management

    • Ensure stock is received, unpacked, and displayed correctly
    • Replenish sales floor stock regularly
    • Monitor stock levels to prevent losses
    • Maintain stockroom organisation and cleanliness
    • Authorise:
      • Write-offs
      • Damaged goods
      • Returns and recalls

     Sales Growth & Profitability

    • Analyse sales and profitability reports
    • Work with management to improve store performance
    • Monitor store expenses and control costs
    • Track product performance in-store
    • Identify opportunities to increase:
      • Sales
      • Brand visibility

     Risk Management

    • Conduct compliance checks
    • Ensure staff follow company policies and procedures
    • Reduce risks such as stock loss and operational errors

     Customer Experience

    • Ensure excellent customer service standards
    • Implement and maintain customer experience processes
    • Create a positive in-store shopping environment

     Leadership & Staff Development

    • Lead and motivate the store team
    • Drive performance to achieve KPIs
    • Identify training and development needs
    • Support talent growth and succession planning
    • Assist with:
      • Recruitment
      • Performance management
      • Staff administration

     REQUIREMENTS

     Minimum Qualifications

    • Grade 12 (Matric)

     Experience

    • 2–3 years’ experience in:
      • Supervisory role OR
      • Assistant Store Management

     Skills & Knowledge

    • Understanding of:
      • Sales and customer service management
      • Retail trade and operations
      • Brand, product, and customer behaviour
    • Budgeting and financial awareness
    • Proficiency in MS Office
    • Strong communication skills
