Job Description
The Banking Clerk is responsible for supporting the company’s financial operations by ensuring the accurate processing, reconciliation, and administration of banking transactions. The role requires strong numerical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain financial records while ensuring compliance with internal controls and company procedures.
The successful candidate will contribute to the efficient management of banking activities, reconciliations, payment processing, reporting, and administrative functions within VKB Milling’s finance department.
Key Responsibilities
Banking and Reconciliations
- Perform daily posting and reconciliation of bank accounts.
- Prepare and maintain accurate daily bank reconciliation reports.
- Ensure all banking transactions are received, balanced, and finalized correctly.
- Identify, investigate, and report discrepancies on a daily basis.
Payment Processing
- Load and process payments through internal financial systems.
- Process payments using online banking platforms.
- Handle customer refunds accurately and timeously.
- Process re-allocation journals where required.
Cash and Financial Administration
- Reconcile:
- Cash office transactions
- Petty cash accounts
- Loan accounts
- Credit card accounts
- Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
SAFEX Administration
- Process daily SAFEX booking fee reports.
- Perform posting and reconciliation of SAFEX transactions.
- Facilitate payment processing related to SAFEX activities.
Reporting and Compliance
- Monitor and maintain compliance with financial procedures and internal controls.
- Prepare financial reports and supporting documentation.
- Ensure administrative tasks are completed accurately and within required deadlines.
Communication and Stakeholder Support
- Liaise with internal departments regarding financial transactions.
- Communicate professionally with customers and suppliers.
- Provide support regarding banking and payment-related enquiries.
Operational Excellence
- Maintain a clean, organised, and disciplined work environment.
- Participate in Mini Business Health Meetings.
- Achieve Goal Alignment targets of at least 85%.
- Complete all required training programmes successfully.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric) with Accounting, or
- Relevant Finance/Accounting qualification.
- Experience in:
- Banking
- Finance
- Administrative environments
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Strong numerical and reconciliation skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
