Job Overview
The Sport Manager: Hockey is responsible for managing the hockey programme at the University, ensuring alignment with UFS sport goals. The role includes administration, financial oversight, strategic development, athlete recruitment, facility management, and compliance with governing bodies and health & safety standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities

Develop and implement the hockey programme strategy in line with UFS sports objectives.

Manage all administrative and financial functions of the hockey programme.

Increase participation at competitive, recreational, and development levels.

Ensure compliance with:

University policies and regulations

University Sport South Africa (USSA) regulations

South African Hockey Association (SAHA) rules

Health and safety regulations
-

Manage club projects, events, and activities.

Oversee hockey facilities and equipment maintenance.

Recruit and retain student athletes.
Inherent Requirements
-
Bachelor’s degree or B-Tech degree (NQF Level 7) in Sport Management or related field.

Minimum 2 years’ relevant experience in sport management.

Safeguarding Certificate.

Valid driver’s license.
Recommendations
-
3 years of relevant sport management experience, preferably in hockey.

Honours degree (NQF Level 8) in Sport Management or related field.

Understanding of university environment and South African sport landscape.
