The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring all facilities are in good working condition while complying with biosecurity, health, and safety standards. This position is ideal for someone practical, hands-on, and comfortable working in a farm environment.
Job Description
The Maintenance Hand will be responsible for performing routine maintenance, identifying faults, and carrying out minor repairs across the farm. This includes working on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
You will assist in maintaining buildings, machinery, and equipment, ensuring everything operates smoothly to support production. The role also requires strict adherence to safety procedures, cleanliness standards, and biosecurity regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Repairs

Maintain buildings, machinery, and equipment in good working condition

Perform fault finding and minor repairs on electrical and mechanical systems

Repair and maintain feeding systems and farm equipment
Technical Tasks

Fix mechanical components such as chains and bearings

Perform basic welding and fabrication work

Repair electrical fittings, lights, and motors

Handle minor plumbing repairs (e.g., water leaks, geyser elements)
Equipment & Tools

Use hand and power tools safely and effectively

Ensure tools are properly stored after use

Keep equipment functional and well-maintained
Farm Operations Support

Assist with ventilation, heating, and air-conditioning systems

Follow maintenance schedules and meet operational deadlines

Support production by ensuring all systems are operational
Safety & Compliance

Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping standards daily

Follow biosecurity procedures strictly

Comply with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies

Work safely with attention to detail at all times
Flexibility

Be willing to work overtime, weekends, and flexible hours when required
Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 / National Certificate

Basic knowledge of:

Mechanical work

Experience using tools and performing basic repairs
