Job Description
You will:
- Operate water treatment plants
- Monitor water quality and flow
- Handle chemicals used to clean water
- Ensure the community receives safe drinking water
Minimum Requirements
To qualify, you MUST have:
- NQF Level 4 Certificate in:
- Water Treatment OR
- Wastewater Treatment OR
- Relevant Engineering field
- DWS Classification Certificate (Class IV or higher)
- 3–4 years experience in water treatment
- Valid Driver’s License (Code EB

Key Responsibilities
Plant Operations
- Run and monitor treatment processes
- Ensure enough water is produced daily
- Operate pumps and systems
Chemical Control
- Calculate and adjust chemical dosages
- Handle chlorine and other chemicals safely
Maintenance Tasks
- Clean filters (backwashing)
- Remove sludge (desludging)
- Monitor dam and reservoir levels
Monitoring & Reporting
- Perform lab tests (based on SANS241 standards)
- Write daily reports (production, incidents, chemicals)
Safety & Compliance
- Follow health & safety rules
- Handle hazardous chemicals correctly
