     Salary Package

    • Grade 1: R1,341,855 – R1,422,810 per annum
    • Grade 2: R1,531,032 – R1,623,609 per annum
    • Grade 3: R1,773,222 – R2,212,680 per annum

     Includes:

    • 70% basic salary
    • 30% flexible benefits (e.g., medical aid optional)

     Job Description

    This role involves providing specialist care in obstetrics and gynaecology, including managing pregnancies, childbirth, and reproductive health conditions. You will ensure safe maternal and neonatal care, perform surgical procedures, and support women’s health services.

    The role also includes training junior staff, clinical governance, and outreach services within the Free State healthcare system.

     Key Responsibilities

     Maternal & Clinical Care

    • Manage pregnancies, labour, and postnatal care
    • Diagnose and treat gynaecological conditions
    • Perform obstetric and gynaecological procedures and surgeries
    • Prescribe medication and interpret diagnostic tests

     Emergency & Critical Care

    • Handle obstetric emergencies and complications
    • Perform resuscitation and critical care interventions

     Team Leadership & Training

    • Supervise junior doctors and healthcare staff
    • Provide training and mentorship

     Documentation & Legal Compliance

    • Maintain accurate patient records
    • Complete medico-legal documentation
    • Ensure ethical and professional clinical practice

     Quality & Governance

    • Conduct clinical audits
    • Monitor healthcare outcomes and performance indicators
    • Ensure compliance with:
      • Health Professions Council of South Africa
      • Free State Department of Health
      • Office of Health Standards Compliance

     Outreach & Administration

    • Provide outpatient services and long-term patient care
    • Support healthcare delivery across the Free State
    • Perform commuted overtime (mandatory)

     Minimum Requirements

    • Grade 12 (Senior Certificate)
    • MBChB (Medical Degree)
    • Specialist qualification in Obstetrics & Gynaecology
    • Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as a Medical Specialist
    • Current HPCSA registration (2026/2027)

     Experience Requirements

    • Grade 1: No experience required
    • Grade 2: Minimum 5 years’ experience as a registered specialist
    • Grade 3: Minimum 10 years’ experience as a registered specialist
