Job Description
This role focuses on teaching, research, and academic development in:
- Educational Psychology
- Life Skills / Life Orientation
You’ll be responsible for educating future teachers, contributing to curriculum development, and supporting student success through teaching and supervision.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
- Present undergraduate and postgraduate modules
- Teach Education Psychology and/or Life Skills
- Support general education modules
Teaching Practice
- Participate in Work Integrated Learning (WIL)
- Support and guide student teachers during practical training
Research
- Actively participate in faculty research activities
- Contribute to academic publications and research outputs
Curriculum Development
- Help design and improve course content
- Ensure relevance in Education Psychology/Life Skills
Student Support
- Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students
- Provide consultation sessions and academic guidance
Teamwork & Administration
- Work collaboratively with faculty colleagues
- Contribute to leadership and administrative duties
Minimum Requirements
Qualification (One of the following):
- PhD (NQF Level 10) in Education Psychology / Life Skills
OR - Master’s Degree (NQF Level 9) + proof of PhD registration
Formal teaching qualification (e.g. BEd or Diploma in Education)
Experience:
- 5 years teaching in a school
OR - 2 years teaching in higher education
Academic Evidence:
- Conference presentations (poster/oral)
- Research writing (manuscripts suitable for publication)
- Good academic record (must attach proof)
Must submit:
- Thesis/dissertation abstract (showing relevance to the field)
Recommended (Advantageous)
- Published research in accredited journals
- Experience supervising postgraduate students
