    Job Description

    Eskom is seeking a qualified and motivated Engineer Professional Engineering (Mechanical Outside Plant) to join the Engineering Department at Lethabo Power Station. The successful candidate will be responsible for sustaining and enhancing the performance of allocated mechanical plant systems by providing engineering expertise, identifying and resolving technical issues, managing engineering projects, and implementing plant modifications.

    This role is ideal for a mechanical engineer with strong technical knowledge, analytical abilities, and a commitment to improving plant reliability, efficiency, and operational performance.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Optimise the performance and reliability of allocated mechanical plant systems.
    • Identify, investigate, and resolve complex plant-related technical problems.
    • Plan and manage plant modification projects to improve operational performance.
    • Manage engineering projects from planning through to implementation.
    • Provide technical advice and engineering support to operational and maintenance teams.
    • Conduct root cause analysis to identify equipment failures and recommend corrective actions.
    • Ensure compliance with national and international engineering codes, standards, and Eskom policies.
    • Prepare technical reports and engineering documentation.
    • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance plant efficiency and reliability.
    • Contribute to engineering decision-making and investment planning.

    Minimum Requirements

    Qualifications

    Applicants must have:

    • Bachelor of Science (BSc) or Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in Engineering (NQF Level 8 with 480 credits).

    Experience

    Applicants must have either:

    • Successfully completed an engineering graduate training programme, or
    • A minimum of 2 years’ engineering experience.

    Professional Registration

    Applicants must be:

    • Registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as a Candidate Engineer.

    Knowledge and Skills
