Job Purpose:
To provide strategic leadership, coordination and oversight in the implementation of security administration, fraud prevention, and anti-corruption initiatives across the department, ensuring a secure and fraud-resilient environment.
Key Responsibilities:
-
Ensure 24-hour physical security and access control across departmental premises
-
Manage and coordinate security operations for departmental events
-
Oversee personnel security, including handling security clearance processes
-
Conduct regular security audits and assessments
-
Manage ICT-related physical and information security
-
Lead and supervise security personnel and manage the sectional budget
-
Oversee investigations of security breaches
-
Develop, implement and manage the department’s Anti-Fraud and Corruption Strategy, in line with PFMA requirements
-
Verify qualifications, criminal records, and citizenship of prospective employees before appointment
-
Implement secure systems for reporting corruption anonymously and confidentially
-
Investigate corruption allegations, institute disciplinary action in collaboration with labour relations, and refer cases to law enforcement when necessary

Promote a departmental culture of ethics, accountability and transparency

Conduct ongoing employee awareness programmes on:

Access to information (PAIA) and Promotion of Administrative Justice Act (PAJA)

Ensure all employees maintain valid security clearances and annually disclose financial interests
Minimum Requirements:
-
Qualification:
-
Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 7) in Security Management, Public Administration, General Management, or an equivalent field
-

Experience:
-
Minimum of 5 years at middle/senior management level in security administration
-

Professional Requirements:
-
Valid driver’s license
-
Successful completion of the SMS Pre-entry Programme (Nyukela) is required before appointment (not required for shortlisting)
