     Purpose of the Role

    To support provincial financial reporting processes by ensuring accurate accounting data, compliance with financial regulations, and preparation of consolidated financial statements for the province.

     Key Duties and Responsibilities

    Financial Reporting & Consolidation

    • Prepare inputs for the Provincial Consolidated Financial Statements
    • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance of financial reporting data
    • Support preparation of annual financial statements for departments and entities

    Monitoring & Compliance

    • Monitor submission of mandatory financial accounting information
    • Assess compliance with provincial financial reporting requirements
    • Track implementation of resolutions from the Provincial Public Accounts Committee (PROPAC)

    Training & Capacity Building

    • Conduct training sessions to improve financial reporting and accounting standards
    • Promote accurate and credible accounting practices across departments

    Financial Systems & Support

    • Work with government financial systems such as:
      • BAS
      • LOGIS
      • PERSAL
    • Apply SCOA (Standard Chart of Accounts) in financial reporting

    Resource Management

    • Manage resources within the division
    • Ensure smooth operational functioning of the unit

     Minimum Requirements

    • Degree or Advanced Diploma (NQF Level 7) in:
      • Financial Accounting or equivalent
    • Must include Accounting III as a major subject
    • Minimum 3 years’ experience in an accounting environment

     Required Knowledge

    • Public Finance Management Act (PFMA)
    • Generally Recognised Accounting Practice
    • Treasury Regulations
    • Public Service Act and Regulations
    • Financial systems: BAS, LOGIS, PERSAL
    • SCOA (Standard Chart of Accounts)

     Salary

    • R468 459 per annum (Basic Salary – Level 09)
