Job Description
You will act as a key administrative support person for Research Chairs, handling everything from scheduling and finances to events and logistics. It’s a dynamic role suited for someone organised, detail-oriented, and comfortable multitasking.
Key Responsibilities
Administrative & PA Support
- Provide secretarial support (meetings, travel, reports)
- Manage office operations and documentation
- Handle meeting coordination and reporting
Financial Administration
- Manage finances for Research Chairs
- Work on UFS financial systems
- Assist with budgeting and expense tracking
Asset & Resource Management
- Track and manage research equipment and consumables
- Maintain asset registers
- Coordinate repairs and replacements
Event & Project Coordination
- Organise workshops, conferences, and seminars
- Assist with planning and execution of events
- Provide hospitality for visiting academics
Coordination & Communication
- Act as liaison between Qwaqwa campus and Bloemfontein campus
- Support research staff and administrative teams
- Mentor interns and junior admin staff where needed
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree / Advanced Diploma / BTech (NQF Level 7)
- At least 1 year relevant experience in:
- Office administration
- Financial/admin support
- Meeting coordination or data management
Recommended (Advantage)
- 2+ years admin/financial support experience
- Budgeting and financial management knowledge
- Experience with PeopleSoft system

Salary & Benefits
- R240,866 – R403,692 per year (depending on experience)
