Job Description
As a Clinical Preceptor, you will guide nursing students through their practical clinical training, ensuring they gain hands-on experience while meeting academic and professional standards. You’ll act as the bridge between the university and healthcare facilities.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Teaching & Student Support
- Orientate students in clinical settings and skills labs
- Facilitate clinical learning, teaching, and assessments
- Provide continuous supervision and mentorship
- Offer feedback, coaching, and remedial support
Monitoring & Evaluation
- Track student clinical placements and progress
- Maintain accurate records and reports
- Evaluate clinical learning experiences
Coordination & Communication
- Liaise between university and clinical facilities
- Build relationships with healthcare staff and students
- Manage conflict and ensure effective communication
Administration & Compliance
- Maintain a portfolio of evidence
- Participate in assessments and evaluations
- Perform additional clinical or academic duties
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (NQF Level 8)
- Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as:
- Professional Nurse (General, Psychiatry, Community)
- Midwife
- Additional clinical specialty qualification
- Valid driver’s license
Recommended (Advantage)
- Master’s Degree in Nursing (NQF Level 9)
- Qualification in Nursing Education
- Registered as an Assessor and/or Moderator with SANC
