Job Overview
The Department of Correctional Services is inviting applications for the position of Artisan Production Grade A: Plumber on a 12-month contract in the Colesberg Management Area. This role is suited to a qualified plumber who will provide plumbing maintenance services, train offenders in plumbing skills, and ensure quality workmanship while supporting the efficient operation of correctional facilities.
The successful candidate will also assist with workshop administration, resource management, and the delivery of high-quality plumbing services.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Training offenders in plumbing trade skills.
- Performing plumbing installation, repair, and maintenance work.
- Executing work according to approved requisitions and client work orders.
- Applying quality control measures to completed work and manufactured products.
- Preparing product costing and supply quotations.
- Performing basic workshop administration duties.
- Managing workshop tools, equipment, and other resources.
- Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and departmental procedures.
- Maintaining accurate records of completed work and resource usage.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- An appropriate Trade Test Certificate (Red Seal) underwritten by the Manpower Training Act.
- A valid driver’s licence.
