Job Title: Lecturer: Civil Engineering

Responsibilities:

Deliver lectures and academic content in Engineering Drawings and related subjects

Engage in research and produce scholarly outputs
-
Participate in student evaluation and curriculum development

Execute relevant community engagement projects
-
Perform academic administration and contribute to departmental leadership
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements (one of the following pathways):
Pathway 1:
-
Bachelor’s degree (BEng, BScEng, BEngTech Hons, or equivalent) in Civil Engineering at NQF Level 8
-
Registered as a Professional Engineer/Technologist (PrEng/PrTechEng) with ECSA
-
Progress toward a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering
-
Minimum of 3 years’ teaching or industry experience
OR
Pathway 2:
-
Master’s degree (MEng, MScEng, MTech, or equivalent) in Civil Engineering at NQF Level 9
-
Registered as a Candidate Engineer/Technologist with ECSA, with proof of PrEng/PrTechEng application under review
-
Minimum of 2 years’ teaching or industry experience
Required Technical Proficiency:
-
Engineering and CAD drawings (manual and software-based)
-
AutoDesk tools (AutoCAD 2D/3D, Civil-3D, Infraworks)
-
Structural detailing, road and pipe network design, earthworks, quantity take-offs
-
GIS tools like ArcGIS and QGIS
-
Knowledge of general civil design and integration into technical plans
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
-
Master’s degree plus professional registration (PrEng/PrTechEng)
-
Progress toward a Doctorate in Civil Engineering
-
AutoDesk Certification or equivalent
-
Experience covering full project life cycles in civil engineering
-
Research output and community engagement in the field
Salary:
R777 297 per annum (Total Cost to Company)
(Salary determined by CUT’s internal parity model)
