    Job Description

    The Free State Department of Health is offering Work Integrated Learning opportunities in Hospitality Management for eligible students who need practical workplace experience as part of their studies.

    Successful learners will perform basic duties related to their field of study under the guidance of an assigned mentor. Learners will also be expected to complete activities recorded in their Learner Guide, Workbook and/or Logbook.

    Minimum Requirements

    Applicants must:

    • Be South African citizens.
    • Have completed Grade 12.
    • Possess an N6 Certificate or academic record.
    • Be eligible for Work Integrated Learning in Hospitality Management.
    • TVET students who have already completed an 18-month learnership may not apply.

    Preference will be given to historically disadvantaged individuals.

    Candidates should have:

    • Good communication and computer skills.
    • Sound organisational skills.
    • Good literacy and numeracy skills.
    • Effective time-management abilities.
    • Problem-solving skills.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Professional telephone etiquette.
    • A neat and well-presented appearance.

    Key Duties

    • Perform basic tasks assigned by the mentor.
    • Carry out duties related to Hospitality Management and the learner’s field of study.
    • Complete activities according to the Learner Guide, Workbook and/or Logbook.
    • Attend the funded Personal Mastery Course applicable to Work Integrated Learning appointees.
    • Gain practical workplace experience under appropriate supervision.
