Job Description
This role focuses on installing, servicing, and maintaining electronic security systems at commercial and industrial sites.
You’ll be responsible for working with a wide range of systems, including:
Alarm systems
CCTV surveillance (including smart features like facial recognition)
Access control systems
Fire detection systems
Electric fencing
The job also includes wiring, system integration, commissioning, and technical support, ensuring that all systems function correctly and meet client requirements.
Main Responsibilities
Install and program security systems according to specifications
Plan and manage cable installations with the wireman
Perform maintenance and fault-finding on systems
Complete job cards and system handovers after installations
Communicate updates to supervisors and call centre
Maintain stock records and assist with stock-taking
Keep company vehicle clean and manage fuel slips
Ensure customer systems are accessed correctly (codes, etc.)
Key Technical Duties
Work with alarm systems (Ajax, Paradox, IDS, DSC, etc.)
Install and maintain electric fences
Set up smart CCTV systems (analytics, surveillance tech)
Integrate multiple systems (CCTV + alarms + fencing)
Configure networks (wireless, fibre, copper)
Handle basic electrical installations (DB boards, UPS, generators)
Support IT and network troubleshooting
Install access control systems (biometric, cards, facial recognition)
Assist in designing and overseeing large projects
Minimum Requirements
Matric (or equivalent)
At least 3 years’ experience as an electronic security technician
Experience in:
Programming
Wiring
Installations
Fault-finding
Valid Code 08 driver’s license
PSIRA registration (Grade E, D, or C required)
