Tender Description
Maluti-a-Phofung Water is inviting quotations from suitably qualified suppliers for the supply and delivery of protective clothing and personal protective equipment (PPE).
The PPE will be used in industrial water and wastewater operations and must meet the required safety, quality and regulatory standards.
Supplied items must be new, unused, fit for purpose and compliant with the specified technical requirements.
Scope of Supply
The successful supplier will be responsible for:
- Supplying and delivering the specified PPE following the issuing of a Purchase Order.
- Ensuring all products meet the required quality and safety standards.
- Packaging and protecting PPE during transportation.
- Coordinating employee sizing according to the approved sizing schedule.
- Applying the required Map Water logo embroidery accurately.
- Replacing defective, damaged, incorrectly sized or non-compliant items at the supplier’s cost.
- Providing product data sheets and relevant compliance documentation.
- Providing certificates of conformity and independent test reports where required.
- Ensuring the exact products supplied correspond with the submitted certifications.

Flame Retardant & Acid-Resistant Overalls
The jackets and trousers must:
- Have reinforced construction suitable for hazardous industrial operations.
- Provide flame-retardant and acid-resistant protection.
- Meet applicable SANS requirements.
- Have suitable fabric integrity and seam strength.
- Be supplied with supporting test documentation.
Safety Footwear
The safety footwear must:
- Be suitable for wet, slippery and heavy-duty water/wastewater environments.
- Meet the specified impact and compression requirements.
- Comply with SANS 20345.
- Have the required regulatory approval.
- Match the exact model submitted with the supporting certification.
Technical & Certification Requirements
Suppliers must ensure compliance with:
- SANS 1423-1 for the specified protective clothing.
- ISO 6530 for resistance to liquid chemical penetration.
- SANS 20345 for safety footwear.
- NRCS approval (VC 9002) where applicable to the safety footwear.
- Applicable South African legislation and safety requirements.
All products must:
- Carry manufacturer identification.
- Match the specified colours.
- Meet the required technical specifications.
- Undergo sample verification before delivery where required.
- Be supported by appropriate certificates and test reports.
Alternative products will only be considered where the bidder can demonstrate that they are equal to or better than the specified products, supported by full technical evidence.

Branding
The Map Water logo must be embroidered according to the client’s specifications. Unauthorised or incorrect branding will not be accepted.
Sizing
The supplier must follow the final approved sizing schedule provided by the client before production and delivery.
Replacement
Any defective, damaged, incorrectly sized or non-compliant PPE must be replaced by the supplier at its own cost.
80/20 Preference Point System
The tender uses an 80/20 preference point system, with price and specified preferential procurement objectives forming part of the evaluation.
