Job Description
The Department of Correctional Services is seeking suitably qualified candidates to fill seven Specialised Security Officer Grade 1: Facilitator positions at Kroonstad and Zonderwater Training Colleges.
The successful candidates will facilitate correctional science training programmes, support learner development and manage training administration. They will also be responsible for preparing learning resources, coordinating experiential learning, evaluating training programmes and ensuring that training facilities and equipment are available and properly maintained.
Key Responsibilities
Manage Correctional Science Learnership administration.
Establish, prepare and manage learners’ Portfolios of Evidence (POE).
Plan, prepare and manage training resources.
Present instructional learning and facilitate learner training.
Prepare and coordinate experiential learning activities.
Implement training and development processes.
Communicate professionally with learners and work effectively as part of a team.
Research new national and international trends in corrections.
Evaluate training programmes and provide feedback.
Manage training-related administration and financial matters.
Ensure that training facilities and equipment are properly maintained.
Manage learners and ensure the availability of suitable facilities, including sleeping accommodation and training rooms before learnership programmes commence.
Manage performance information, finances, human resources and departmental assets.
Minimum Requirements
Matric/Grade 12 or a relevant Degree/National Diploma at NQF Level 6 in Behavioural Sciences.
Successful completion of the Correctional Science Learnership/Basic Training.
Experience: 10 years’ relevant experience gained at entry-level production post CB1.
Important experience exemption: Candidates appointed with a relevant NQF Level 6 qualification do not require previous experience for appointment to this position.
Additional requirements:
Registration and accreditation as an Assessor and Moderator will be an added advantage.
Valid driver’s licence.
