Job Overview

The Shop Assistant Cashier will play an important role in delivering excellent customer service and ensuring efficient day-to-day store operations.

The position involves accurately processing customer purchases, handling cash safely, promoting Clicks ClubCard membership and promotions, maintaining merchandise displays and ensuring that customers receive helpful and professional service.

Candidates should have good numeracy and communication skills, a strong customer focus and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced retail environment.

Key Responsibilities

Point of Sale and Cashier Duties

Efficiently execute all operational activities at the point of sale.
Scan merchandise accurately and efficiently.
Process customer payments correctly.
Action ClubCard rewards where applicable.
Handle cash safely and responsibly at all times.
Maintain accuracy during all point-of-sale transactions.

Customer Service

Deliver excellent customer service at all times.
Act as a positive brand ambassador for Clicks.
Remain visible and approachable on the shop floor.
Provide friendly and professional assistance to customers.
Make customers aware of relevant promotions.
Provide accurate information about products, ranges, promotions and events.

ClubCard and Sales Promotion

Proactively promote the Clicks ClubCard.
Encourage customers to join the ClubCard programme.
Enrol new ClubCard members to support participation targets.
Promote current offers and promotions to positively influence sales.
Help customers benefit from Clicks promotions and value offerings.

Merchandising and Store Operations

Maintain merchandise according to store standards.
Execute merchandising activities effectively.
Maintain visual merchandising standards.
Perform general housekeeping duties.
Support stock management procedures.
Ensure the store environment remains neat, organised and customer-friendly.

Product Knowledge

Keep product and range knowledge up to date.
Stay informed about promotions and events.
Provide customers with correct and relevant product information.
Support the Clicks vision of being the customer’s first-choice health and beauty retailer.

Minimum Requirements

Education

Grade 12 / Matric – Essential.

Experience

Previous experience in a customer-facing role within a retail or FMCG store operations environment is desirable.

Knowledge Required
