Tender Overview
The Free State Department of Health invites suitably qualified contractors to submit bids for the replacement and rehabilitation of the internal building sewer system and the external main sewer line at Bongani Hospital in Welkom.
The project aims to upgrade the hospital’s sewer infrastructure to improve reliability, ensure compliance with health and safety standards, and support uninterrupted healthcare service delivery over a 12-month contract period.
Scope of Work
The successful contractor will be responsible for:
- Replacing the internal building sewer system.
- Rehabilitating the internal sewer infrastructure.
- Replacing the external main sewer line.
- Rehabilitating existing external sewer infrastructure.
- Installing new sewer pipelines in accordance with applicable engineering standards.
- Supplying all required materials, equipment, and skilled labour.
- Conducting testing, quality assurance, and commissioning of completed works.
- Completing all work within the agreed 12-month contract period.
- Complying with Occupational Health and Safety legislation throughout the project.
Minimum Requirements
Bidders must:
- Hold a valid CIDB 6 CE grading or higher.
- Demonstrate experience in sewer infrastructure construction and rehabilitation projects of similar size and complexity.
- Have the financial capacity to execute the project, including evidence of a minimum cash flow of R5 million.
- Provide proof of ownership or lease agreements for the required construction equipment.
- Submit all documentation required in the tender specifications.
Key Personnel Requirements
The contractor should provide suitably qualified personnel, including:
- Contracts Manager with a relevant Bachelor’s Degree and at least 10 years’ experience.
- Site Agent with a National Diploma.
- Qualified Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Officer.
- Skilled technical staff and construction personnel.
Technical Requirements
The project includes:
- Construction and installation of new sewer pipelines.
- Rehabilitation of existing sewer infrastructure.
- Compliance with all relevant engineering and construction standards.
- Adherence to Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
- Submission of baseline risk assessments and safety plans.
- Quality control and project documentation throughout the contract period.
