Project Purpose
The purpose of this tender is to appoint a suitably qualified building contractor to repair structural defects and replace school buildings that are in poor and unsafe condition at Popano Secondary School.
The project aims to improve the safety, functionality, and compliance of the school infrastructure by rehabilitating existing facilities, demolishing unsuitable structures, and constructing new compliant buildings that support effective teaching and learning.
Scope of Work
1. Site Establishment and General Requirements
The appointed contractor will be responsible for:
- Establishing and managing the construction site.
- Providing site offices, storage facilities, and temporary services.
- Protecting existing school facilities during construction.
- Managing access, security, and safety controls.
- Coordinating construction activities with school operations.
- Providing all labour, materials, plant, and equipment required.
2. Structural Repairs and Rehabilitation Works
The contractor must undertake repairs to defective structures, including:
Foundations and Structural Elements
- Investigation and repair of damaged foundations.
- Strengthening of defective structural components.
- Repair of cracks and structural failures.
- Stabilisation of affected building elements.
Walls and Masonry Works
- Repair and replacement of damaged brickwork.
- Construction of new masonry structures.
- Rebuilding of unsafe wall sections.
- Plastering and finishing works.
Floors and Concrete Works
- Repair and replacement of damaged floors.
- Concrete repairs.
- Construction of new concrete elements where required.
- Finishing and waterproofing works.
Roof Repairs and Replacement
- Removal of defective roofing structures.

3. Demolition and Replacement of Unsatisfactory Buildings
The contractor will be required to:
- Demolish buildings identified as unsafe or unsuitable.

- SACPCMP-registered Construction Manager.
