Tender Description
The Department of Health Free State invites suitably qualified contractors to submit quotations for maintenance and refurbishment work at Universitas Academic Hospital in Bloemfontein.
The project involves two key areas: repairing a wall crack at the Nuclear Medicine Annex and replacing the existing carpet in the Admissions area. The work is intended to maintain safe, functional and suitable facilities for patients, visitors and hospital staff.
Scope of Work
The successful contractor will be required to undertake the following:
1. Wall Crack Repair – Nuclear Medicine Annex
- Inspect the identified wall crack.
- Prepare the affected wall area for repair.
- Repair and restore the damaged section.
- Complete associated plastering and finishing work where required.
- Ensure the repaired area is properly finished and suitable for the hospital environment.
- Remove construction waste and leave the work area clean and safe.
2. Carpet Replacement – Admissions
- Remove the existing carpet in the designated Admissions area.
- Prepare the underlying floor surface for the new covering.
- Supply and install suitable replacement carpet.
- Ensure accurate fitting, alignment and secure installation.
- Complete finishing work around edges and adjoining surfaces.
- Remove and dispose of old carpeting and associated waste appropriately.

Requirements
Prospective bidders must:
- Hold a minimum CIDB grading of 1GB or higher.
- Have suitable experience in general building maintenance and refurbishment.
- Have the skills required for masonry, plastering and wall repair.
- Have experience in carpet removal and installation.
- Provide suitably skilled personnel and appropriate tools and equipment.
- Be able to work safely within an operational healthcare facility.
- Minimise disruption to hospital operations.
- Comply with applicable health and safety requirements.
- Follow all requirements contained in the official tender documentation.
- Attend the compulsory clarification meeting.
- Submit the tender using the prescribed documentation and procedures.
