Overview
The Specialist: Employment Standards is a senior management position responsible for overseeing the implementation and enforcement of employment standards within the Free State.
The role involves policy development, inspection, advocacy, stakeholder engagement, and management of resources within the Sub-directorate.
Job Description
This position manages the Employment Standards Inspection Strategy, ensures compliance with employment laws, monitors policy implementation, and conducts educational and advocacy programmes for internal and external stakeholders.
It also oversees human, financial, and asset resources of the Sub-directorate.
Key Responsibilities
Policy & Strategy
Develop and monitor policy and work plans to ensure harmonious employer-employee relationships
Implement Employment Standards Inspection Strategy and procedures
Convert policy into actionable processes
Stakeholder Engagement & Advocacy
Conduct advocacy and educational programmes
Engage with internal and external stakeholders on employment standards
Resource Management
Manage human, financial, and physical resources within the Sub-directorate
Ensure effective allocation and utilisation of resources
Compliance & Inspection
Inspect and enforce compliance with employment laws
Ensure policies and regulations are adhered to within relevant sectors
Minimum Requirements
Qualification at NQF Level 6 or higher (SAQA recognised) in:
B-Proc / B-Juris / Labour Relations / BCom Law / BA Law / LLB
5 years functional experience:
2 years at Assistant Director level
3 years in inspection/enforcement of employment laws
Valid driver’s license
