    The Despatch Controller is responsible for managing the full supply chain process of dispatch, including receiving, dispatching, and handling returns for the bakery depot. The role ensures on-time, in-full deliveries of high-quality products while optimising costs, supervising the dispatch team, and maintaining operational efficiency.

     Purpose of the Role

    To manage, control, and optimise the dispatch process, ensuring timely and accurate deliveries, cost-effective operations, stock management, and a high-performing dispatch team while complying with food safety and operational standards.

     Key Responsibilities

    • Ensure OTIF (On Time In Full) deliveries by loading vehicles correctly and ensuring quality products.

    • Optimise dispatch operations to reduce costs and improve efficiency.

    • Prevent waste through correct stock rotation and adherence to SOPs and food safety standards.

    • Recruit, train, coach, and supervise dispatch staff to achieve high performance.

    • Analyse dispatch performance and report against budget and operational targets for continuous improvement.

    • Implement and maintain dispatch standard operating procedures (SOPs).

    • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and food safety requirements.

    • Support operational decision-making with accurate data and reports.

     Minimum Requirements

    • Qualification: Matric / National Senior Certificate (tertiary in Logistics or Supply Chain Management desirable)

    • Experience:

      • 2–3 years’ warehouse and inventory management experience in FMCG

      • 2–3 years’ supervisory experience

     Skills & Competencies

    • Supervisory and leadership skills

    • Cost management and budgeting knowledge

    • Performance coaching and staff discipline

    • Knowledge of SOPs and training assessments

    • Proficiency in MS Office and ERP systems (Great Plains, DRM, VIGIL, or similar)

    • Communication and report-writing skills

    • Understanding of supply chain principles, continuous improvement, and operational efficiency

     Other Information

    • Position may require overtime and a 6-day work week
