Job Purpose
To conduct in-depth, specialised credit assessments and risk analysis for potential and existing clients within a Premium Portfolio. The role supports sound credit decision-making by analysing financial statements, qualitative business information, and industry data to determine Absa’s appetite to extend credit.
Key Responsibilities
1. Risk Management

Monitor client performance for early risk indicators
-
Conduct formal credit reviews at prescribed intervals
-
Monitor compliance with covenants and credit conditions
-
Escalate risk concerns to Sales, Credit, and Line Management
-
Ensure compliance with ARMS and Absa Credit Policy
-
Request updated property valuations for secured facilities
-
Manage risks related to securities and collateral
-
Proactively manage high-risk clients and implement loss prevention measures (EWL Reports)
-
Manage outstanding financial statements per policy
-
Action and manage Odex, Referrals, REPL, and REPC
2. Credit Management
-
Structure sustainable credit solutions aligned to client needs
-
Ensure adherence to credit policies and mitigate policy breaches
-
Manage credit risks across client portfolios and products
-
Drive the deal forum process and submit quality applications to sanctioners
-
Obtain specialist input where required
3. Portfolio Financial & Operational Management
-
Compile credit reviews, amendments, and new applications
-
Issue facility letters and expiry reminders (30/60/90 days)
-
Ensure recovery of manual fees to prevent revenue leakage

Spread financials using credit risk models:

Agri Model
-
Public Sector Model
-
RiskCalc Model
-
Triad
-

Produce accurate Default Grading (DG) outputs
4. Client Solutioning & Customer Service
-
Identify cross-sell opportunities and provide leads to bankers

Participate in sales best-practice and solutioning sessions

Conduct industry and market research to assess client positioning

Provide credit input on new acquisitions and product offerings
5. Teamwork & Self-Development

Minimum Qualifications & Experience
Education

Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma in:

Management Studies

Credit Risk

Experience

5+ years relevant credit or risk analysis experience

Agricultural credit analysis experience – preferred
Technical Skills

Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel

Experience with financial spreading and risk grading models
