Job Description
The Professional Nurse will be responsible for delivering safe, comprehensive, and quality nursing care in accordance with the applicable Scope of Practice.
The successful candidate will work alongside a multi-professional team to provide effective patient care, identify and manage clinical risks, maintain accurate nursing records, and contribute to a positive patient experience.
The role also involves supporting staff development, ensuring appropriate use of equipment and stock, and maintaining professional nursing standards.
Key Responsibilities
The Professional Nurse will be responsible for:
- Delivering quality nursing care in collaboration with a multi-professional team.
- Identifying, preventing, and managing risks to ensure patient safety.
- Creating a safe and conducive environment that promotes a positive patient experience.
- Providing accurate and comprehensive records of all nursing interventions.
- Contributing to a learning environment that develops staff competence.
- Ensuring all utilised stock and equipment are accurately charged.
- Applying appropriate nursing processes and procedures.
- Assessing patients and developing or modifying nursing care plans where required.
- Maintaining professional standards and complying with relevant nursing legislation.
- Applying infection prevention and control principles in the clinical environment.
Requirements
Essential Education
Applicants must have:
- A Degree or Diploma in General Nursing.
Desired Education
The following will be advantageous:
- Midwifery qualification.
- Postgraduate Certificate or Diploma in a relevant specialty area.
Experience
Essential experience:
- No minimum experience is required.
Desired experience:
- Approximately 1 year of post-graduate qualification experience before placement in a specialised unit.
