     Job Description

    • Job Purpose:
      To provide pharmaceutical services under the supervision of a pharmacist, ensuring optimal patient care by assisting with the preparation, sale, and supply of scheduled medication in accordance with legal and ethical guidelines.

    • Key Responsibilities:

      • Assist in the sale of Schedule 1 and 2 medicines

      • Support compounding, preparation, or packaging of non-sterile medication

      • Handle manufacturing and repackaging under pharmacist supervision

      • Assist in reading, processing, and preparing prescriptions

      • Accurately capture script and patient details

      • Ensure correct labelling, packing, and checking of medication

      • Provide medication usage instructions to patients

      • Manage stock control (ordering, receiving, distribution, and reporting)

      • Support chronic, HIV/AIDS, and oncology medication authorizations

      • Process medical aid claims and correct rejections

      • Maintain accurate customer profiles and system updates

      • Advise patients at dispensary, front-shop, and self-medication counters

      • Participate in bi-annual stock takes

      • Adhere to Dis-Chem’s SOPs and regulatory requirements

    • Qualifications & Experience Required:

      • Grade 12 / Matric

      • Post Basic Pharmacist Assistant qualification

      • Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)

      • Computer literate – MS Office

      • Experience working on Unisolv

      • Sound numerical skills

      • Proficient in English and a second language

      • Willing and able to work retail hours

    • Advantageous:

      • Experience in Retail / FMCG operations

      • Knowledge of SAP, E-Scripting, and complementary medicine

      • Third additional language

    • Competencies & Skills:
