Requirements
Mandatory Requirements
- Registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as a Pharmacist Assistant (Post Basic).
Experience Criteria Based on Salary Grade
Grade 1: No experience required after registration.
Grade 2: Minimum 5 years of experience as a Pharmacist Assistant (Post Basic).
Grade 3: Minimum 13 years of experience as a Pharmacist Assistant (Post Basic).

Key Knowledge & Skills Needed
- Strong understanding of pharmaceutical practices and regulations.
- Familiarity with South African health laws, regulations, and policies.

- Computer literacy and ability to work with pharmaceutical management systems.

Duties & Responsibilities
As a Pharmacist Assistant (Post Basic) at Senorita Ntlabathi Hospital, your role will include:
Providing Pharmaceutical Services
- Assisting in delivering quality pharmaceutical services to hospital patients.
- Ensuring patients receive safe and effective medication.
Medicine Preparation & Dispensing
- Assisting in the compounding, manipulation, and preparation of medicine.
- Handling both non-sterile and sterile medicines.
- Ensuring all medicines are prepared according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Prescription Handling & Dispensing
- Reading and preparing prescriptions as per doctor’s instructions.
- Selecting, manipulating, compounding, and labeling medicines.
- Supplying the medicine in the correct packaging as per pharmacist instructions.
Providing Patient Information
- Offering guidance on the correct use of medication.
- Issuing pharmaceutical products and ensuring proper documentation.
Salary Structure
Annual Salary: R 250 947.00 – R 355 812.00
Salary Level: Grade 1 – 3
The salary range is based on experience, qualifications, and level of expertise.
