Job Title: Operational Manager Nursing Specialty (Theatre)

Responsibilities:
Oversee clinical nursing practices in the Operating Theatre unit to ensure they align with the professional scope and nursing standards
Promote and maintain a high standard of perioperative nursing care
Coordinate nursing operations within a multidisciplinary team to deliver holistic patient care
Communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and healthcare providers, including compiling complex reports when needed
Supervise and guide nursing personnel to ensure optimal care and operational efficiency
Manage time and workflow within the unit and support junior staff
Promote principles of Batho Pele, advocating for patient care and satisfaction
Foster professional relationships to support healthcare delivery
Use basic computer literacy to enhance operational effectiveness
Qualifications:
Matric (Senior Certificate)
Basic R425 nursing qualification (Diploma/Degree) allowing registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse
Current SANC registration (2025/2026)
Post-basic qualification (minimum 1 year) in Theatre Nursing (SANC-accredited)
Minimum 9 years nursing experience post-registration as a Professional Nurse
At least 5 years of that experience must be in the theatre specialty, after obtaining the post-basic qualification
A post-basic qualification in Health Care Management or Nursing Administration is advantageous
Skills:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to manage conflict, resources, and people effectively
Sound knowledge of nursing legislation, ethical practices, and public health policies
Experience in nursing administration, financial management, and human resources
Competency in using computer systems to support service delivery
Benefits:
Annual salary: R693,096 – R789,861 (based on qualifications and experience)
