    Purpose of the Role

    To support and manage the psychosocial wellbeing of students by providing counselling services, wellness initiatives, social education, and life skills development. The role also involves managing student engagement, wellness campaigns, and the Student Council to ensure a healthy, inclusive, and supportive campus environment.

    Key Performance Areas

    1. Counselling & Support

    • Provide on-site primary counselling, trauma containment, and crisis management.

    • Promote and market the counselling service to students.

    • Maintain case files and statistics according to SACSSP/HPCSA standards.

    2. Community Engagement (CE)

    • Develop and manage a campus-specific CE project plan.

    • Lead and support the CE committee of the Student Council.

    • Monitor, evaluate, and report on project outcomes and impact.

    3. Student Council Management

    • Plan and oversee the Student Council (SC) election process.

    • Provide training, development, and team-building opportunities for SC members.

    • Ensure active participation of the SC in campus life, committees, and events.

    4. Social Awareness & Education

    • Design and implement Social Awareness & Education Campaigns targeting campus needs.

    • Manage execution and measure impact of these campaigns.

    • Evaluate programmes and use insights for future planning.

    5. Reporting & Administration

    • Submit fortnightly reports and semester summaries.

    • Maintain all tracking systems and update the graduate database.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum: Degree in Social Work or Psychology

    • Must be registered with either:

      • SACSSP (as a Social Worker), or

      • HPCSA (as a Registered Counsellor or Psychologist)

    Experience

    • Minimum 3 years of counselling experience.

    • Experience working with youth or students is highly advantageous.

    Requirements

    • Valid driver’s licence and own vehicle (essential).

    • Ability to work on-site in a campus environment.
