Job Overview / Description:
Third Age Group is seeking a detail-driven Medical Coding Specialist to join their team. The role involves reviewing patient medical records and accurately assigning ICD-10 codes while ensuring all coding and billing processes comply with South African medical aid requirements, HPCSA regulations, and industry standards. The specialist will play a crucial role in ensuring timely and accurate reimbursements and maintaining full compliance throughout the revenue cycle.
Key Responsibilities:
Review patient medical records and assign correct ICD-10 codes.
Ensure compliance with medical aid, HPCSA regulations, and industry standards.
Manage coding and billing processes for accurate reimbursements.
Work with electronic health records (EHRs) and medical aid claims systems.
Communicate effectively with internal teams and resolve coding issues.
Requirements / Qualifications:
Matric (National Senior Certificate).
ICD-10 coding certification (South African recognized).
Minimum 2 years’ experience in medical coding within hospitals, clinics, or medical practices.
Knowledge of ICD-10 codes, HPCSA regulations, and medical aid billing.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Computer literate and proficient in coding/billing software.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
