    Job Overview

    HOSPERSA is seeking a highly motivated and ethical Labour Relations Organiser to support and grow its membership base in the Free State. The role involves representing union members, resolving workplace disputes, promoting workers’ rights, and strengthening union presence through recruitment and engagement.

    This is a field-based (itinerant) role requiring frequent travel and flexible working hours, including evenings and weekends.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Recruit new union members and promote union services

    • Service existing members and advise on labour rights and legislation

    • Represent members in:

      • Grievances

      • Unfair labour practices

      • Unfair dismissal disputes

    • Address individual and collective labour issues

    • Organize and facilitate union meetings and activities

    • Maintain accurate records and reports of cases and engagements

    • Provide administrative and professional support to union structures

    • Assist with budgeting, financial tracking, and reporting

    • Lead and implement union-related projects and programmes

    • Participate in collective bargaining, education, and training initiatives

    Minimum Requirements

    • Degree or Diploma in Labour Relations or related field

    • Grade 12 (Matric)

    • 3–5 years’ experience in a labour relations environment

    Additional Requirements

    • Valid Code 08 (EB) driver’s licence

    • Own reliable vehicle and insurance (essential)

    • Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, Outlook)

    • Willingness to travel and work flexible hours

    Key Skills & Competencies

    • Strong knowledge of the Labour Relations Act and related legislation

    • Experience in trade unions and labour environments

    • Negotiation and conflict resolution skills

    • Excellent communication (verbal and written)

    • Strong organizational and planning abilities

    • Ability to work independently under pressure

    • Strong interpersonal and member engagement skills

    Work Conditions

    • Frequent travel, including overnight stays

    • Work outside normal hours (evenings/weekends)

    • 12-month probation period

    • May include competency assessments during selection
