    The University of the Free State is seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical Officer/Lecturer to join the Department of Basic Medical Sciences. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching in integrated Anatomy and Physiology, with a focus on clinical application, to both undergraduate and postgraduate students. This role also involves curriculum development, research participation, and postgraduate supervision, contributing to the academic excellence of the Faculty of Health Sciences.

    Responsibilities:

    • Deliver lectures, tutorials, small-group discussions, and practical sessions in integrated Anatomy and Physiology for undergraduate students.

    • Teach Anatomy and Physiology to postgraduate students in Medicine and the Health Professions.

    • Facilitate small-group learning and practical training sessions.

    • Contribute to curriculum development and module management.

    • Participate in departmental research programmes and supervise postgraduate students.

    Qualifications:

    • MBChB degree (NQF Level 8).

    • Registration as a Physician with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).

    • Clinical experience as a medical practitioner.

    • Proven experience presenting at conferences (poster/oral presentations).

    • Good academic record.

    Recommendations:

    • Experience teaching Anatomy/Physiology at undergraduate or postgraduate level.

    • Research experience in clinical Anatomy/Physiology with publication potential.

    • Experience in the higher education sector.

    • Valid driver’s license.

    • Knowledge of an additional South African language.

    Competencies:

    • Strong results orientation and reliability.

    • Ability to manage multiple activities simultaneously.

    • Adherence to rules and regulations; proficient in MS Office.

    • High motivation, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
