    Responsibilities:

    • Teach and assess undergraduate and postgraduate students

    • Provide postgraduate supervision (master’s and PhD level)

    • Lead and publish research in accredited national and international journals

    • Secure external research funding and build industry partnerships

    • Recruit and support postgraduate students

    • Participate in community outreach and service

    • Carry out academic and departmental administration duties

    Qualifications:


    Minimum requirements vary by academic level:

    Lecturer:

    • PhD (NQF Level 10) in Mathematical Statistics, Applied Statistics, Biostatistics, or related field (permanent appointment)

    • OR a Master’s degree (NQF Level 9) in related field (5-year contract with expectation to complete PhD)

    • Academic presentations at conferences and a strong academic record

    Senior Lecturer:

    • PhD (NQF Level 10) in a relevant statistical discipline

    • National recognition and scholarly conference presentations

    • Experience supervising master’s students and published research record

    • Membership in scholarly society

    Associate Professor:

    • PhD in a related statistical discipline

    • External examination experience for postgraduate students

    • NRF rating (minimum C3) or equivalent scholarly recognition

    • Track record of supervision and peer-reviewed publications

    Professor:

    • PhD in a related statistical discipline

    • International research recognition and editorial board membership

    • NRF rating of at least C2

    • Demonstrated supervision of master’s and doctoral graduates

    • Keynote or workshop experience at national/international level

    Recommendations:

    • Experience using statistical software such as R, SAS, Python

    • Teaching experience in higher education

    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
