    The Department of Computer Science and Informatics at the University of the Free State, Qwaqwa Campus, is seeking an academically excellent and motivated individual to fill a Lecturer position. The successful candidate will contribute to the department’s teaching, research, and community engagement efforts, particularly in emerging areas of Computer Science and Information Systems.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Teach undergraduate and postgraduate modules in Computer Science and/or Information Systems

    • Supervise honours and co-supervise master’s students

    • Conduct research in departmental focus areas:

      • Business Intelligence and Text Mining

      • Computer Science Education

      • Eye-Tracking Applications

      • Human-Computer Interaction and Extended Reality

      • Digital Inclusion and Community Engagement in IT

    • Publish research in accredited peer-reviewed journals

    • Contribute to curriculum development and departmental planning

    • Engage in community outreach

    • Carry out administrative tasks at departmental/university level

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • PhD (NQF Level 10) in Computer Science, Informatics, or a related discipline (for permanent appointment)
      OR

    • Master’s degree (NQF Level 9) in the same fields (5-year contract appointment with PhD completion required for permanency)

    • Undergraduate lecturing experience

    • Participation in academic conferences (poster or oral presentations)

    • Evidence of research work (e.g., manuscripts or published papers)

    • A strong academic record

    Preferred Qualifications & Experience:

    • Specialisation in Software Development, Computer Networking, or Mobile App Development

    • Ability to teach modules in Information Systems, Computer Science, and Software Engineering

    • Track record of research output
