    Responsibilities:

    Provide leadership and manage the delivery of forensic medico-legal services across the province.

    • Oversee the implementation and quality assurance of Forensic Pathology Services and Clinical Forensic Medicine operational plans.

    • Provide leadership and manage the delivery of forensic medico-legal services across the province.

    • Perform autopsies in forensic mortuaries throughout the Free State.

    • Develop and monitor Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to autopsy performance.

    • Liaise with the University of the Free State’s Forensic Medico-Legal Unit to enhance service delivery.

    • Participate in departmental management activities and meetings.

    • Report directly to the Directorate of Forensic Pathology Services.

    Qualifications:

    • Matric certificate.

    • MBChB (Medical degree allowing registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Officer).

    • Current registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) for 2025/2026.

    • Minimum of five (5) years appropriate experience as a Medical Officer.

    • Computer literacy and a valid driver’s license are required.

    • Postgraduate qualification in Forensic Pathology and knowledge of Forensic Medico-Legal Services are advantageous.

    • Strong communication, administrative, and customer care management skills.

    Salary & Benefits:

    • R1,422,810 – R1,576,977 per annum (Medical Grade 1)

    • A portion of the package is flexible and may be structured according to personal needs.

    • 12-month probation period, government pension, and full public sector benefits.
