Job Description
Eskom is seeking a qualified and experienced Senior Technologist Engineering (Electrical) to join the Engineering Department at Lethabo Power Station. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and supporting engineering technologies, strategies, standards, specifications, and designs to ensure the efficient operation and reliability of electrical infrastructure.
This role requires an experienced engineering professional who can provide technical leadership, develop engineering solutions, conduct research, evaluate technologies, and ensure compliance with Eskom standards, statutory regulations, and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical consulting, investigation, and engineering advisory services.
- Develop, integrate, and implement engineering solutions and designs for asset creation and improvement.
- Develop and approve discipline-specific engineering philosophies, technical standards, specifications, procedures, and work practices.
- Manage and conduct evaluations of products, equipment, materials, services, and engineering changes.
- Contribute to the development of engineering technology strategies, vision, and direction.
- Conduct research into new technologies and engineering innovations.
- Participate in national and international engineering and technical forums.
- Provide professional technical leadership, coaching, and mentorship to engineering teams.
- Ensure compliance with Eskom policies, engineering standards, statutory regulations, and safety requirements.
- Support engineering planning, design integration, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
Applicants must have:
- BTech, National Higher Diploma, or Advanced Diploma in Engineering (NQF Level 7 with 360 credits).
Professional Registration
- Registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as a Professional Engineering Technologist is mandatory.
Experience
Applicants must have a minimum of 4 years’ relevant experience in:
- Engineering planning and design.
- Engineering design integration.
- Engineering management within power stations, substations, or electrical networks.
- Overhead line engineering design.
- Substation design.
- Distributed generation integration.
- Secondary plant engineering design.
- Protection systems.
- Telecommunications.
- Measurement and metering.
- Civil engineering design and control.
