    OWC, an Aqualis Group company and a global leader in renewable energy engineering and consultancy, is seeking an experienced Senior Consultant – Onshore Renewables to join its team in Bloemfontein. The successful candidate will play a key role during the construction phase of a large-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) project, ensuring engineering, construction, and quality activities meet contractual, technical, and regulatory standards.

    Job Description

    The Senior Consultant will work closely with the OWC Site Manager and Project Manager, providing technical oversight, conducting quality inspections, reviewing contractor performance, monitoring project progress, and ensuring compliance with engineering standards and health and safety requirements. The role also involves preparing technical documentation, mentoring junior colleagues, and supporting the successful delivery of renewable energy projects.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Prepare technical inputs and support engineering activities across renewable energy projects.
    • Review, analyse, and interpret technical data accurately and independently.
    • Prepare site reports, technical notes, and project progress reports.
    • Develop and maintain advanced spreadsheets, databases, and project documentation.
    • Attend project meetings and provide technical support to senior management.
    • Ensure all project deliverables comply with company procedures and quality standards.
    • Maintain comprehensive project logbooks and records.
    • Mentor junior team members and contribute to their professional development.
    • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver engineering solutions.
    • Promote and comply with all Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (QHSE) policies.
    • Conduct detailed site inspections to verify compliance with specifications and regulations.
    • Review quality documentation, inspection records, testing results, and as-built drawings.
    • Evaluate contractor reports and payment milestone certificates.
    • Verify alignment between engineering designs and construction activities.
    • Monitor contractor progress against project schedules and forecasts.
    • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Degree qualification in Engineering or an equivalent field (minimum NQF Level 4 or equivalent qualification with relevant experience).
    • At least 7 years of experience working on renewable energy engineering projects.
    • Proven experience working on construction sites within the renewable energy sector.
    • Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams or consultants.
    • Strong understanding of engineering principles, standards, and best practices.
    • Knowledge of onshore wind, solar PV, and renewable energy project management.
    • Legal right to live and work in South Africa.
